Dr. B. Akbar Saheb: A Visionary in Eye Care and Humanitarian Service

Born to Serve, Driven to Heal

Dr. B. Akbar Saheb, a pioneer in modern ophthalmology and a beacon of selfless service, was born on March 4, 1939, in a modest village in the Anantapuramu district of Andhra Pradesh. From humble beginnings, his unwavering commitment to transforming lives through sight restoration began early. He earned his M.B.B.S. from Guntur Medical College and completed his M.S. in Ophthalmology at the renowned Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital, Hyderabad, under the mentorship of the legendary Padma Bhushan Prof. Siva Reddy.

With a career spanning over six decades, Dr. Akbar dedicated his life to eliminating avoidable blindness and uplifting marginalized communities. Following his retirement in 1997 as Superintendent and Eye Surgeon, he founded the Dr. Akbar Super Speciality Eye Hospital – Phaco, Laser & LASIK Center, with locations in Anantapuramu and Hyderabad, continuing his mission through world-class care.
